  1. Discuss – can you change a prophecy by manipulating events?

The fact that the main character of the story is a not so young a woman, widow and with a small child looking for a new beginning – does that turn you off?  Such a person ending up with an adventure – is this a boomer story looking for adventure?  How would you feel if you were to go to a new country to start a new life after losing your spouse and with a small child?
  3. Discuss Ewlon as a heroic figure. What qualifies him as one?  Discuss Shreela as a heroic figure. What qualifies her as one?
  4. How is the book structured for a fantasy adventure? Does the absence of exotic looking characters as in Star Wars make the story too human? Did it affect your reading of the story and your appreciation of the book? Do you think the author did a good job with names?
  5. How do you like the author's use of language/writing style? What is your favorite passage?  Does this passage relate or reveal anticipation of things to come in the book or how does this particular passage relate to the story as a whole?
  6. “Fantasy adventures take you into another world with endless possibilities.  Nothing is impossible.”  Discuss the favorite twist in the story that is impossible in this world but possible in your imagination.
  7. One on-line reviewer writes: “I enjoyed the richness of its imagery, interesting plot and page-turning suspense.”  How effective is the author's use of plot twists to make you read more because your predictions did not match with the unfolding story?
  8. The book’s character and plot – are they well balanced? Do the names in the book, descriptions of the landscapes, dialogues consistently follow the imagery of a distant planet and their civilizations?
  9. In many fantasy adventure books, love between characters may be a distraction?  Do you feel the underlying earthly love distracts the adventure? Does the absence of steamy passages make the love story less romantic?
